Pipeline stages
The six stages a new organisation's pipeline starts with, each with a win probability and a colour, and how admins and managers rename, reorder, add or remove them and change their win probability — from the CRM section of Settings, where an admin also defines custom fields.
The six stages an organisation starts with
Every organisation's pipeline starts with the same six stages, in this order, each carrying a win probability:
- Prospecting — 10%
- Qualification — 25%
- Proposal — 50%
- Negotiation — 75%
- Closed Won — 100%
- Closed Lost — 0%
Each stage also carries a colour, shown as a small swatch next to its name on the board and in the deals list.
Stages can be changed
None of this is fixed. A stage can be renamed, reordered, or removed, and new stages can be added; each stage's win probability can be changed too, which matters because that number feeds the weighted forecast. Renaming a stage doesn't move the deals sitting in it — they keep their stage, just under the new name.
Removing a stage is the one change that's guarded: a stage that still has deals sitting in it can't be removed until those deals are moved somewhere else, and trying to remove it tells you how many are in the way. Renaming a stage, reordering it, or changing its win probability isn't affected by this — only removal is.
Only admins and managers can edit stages
Changing the stages themselves — as opposed to moving a deal through them — is restricted to admins and managers, from the CRM section of Settings. Anyone can move a deal from one stage to another; only an admin or a manager can rename a stage, change its win probability, or add, remove or reorder stages.
Custom fields for companies and deals sit in that same section, though defining those is an admin's to do — see companies and deals for what they add to a record.
Asking to move a deal to a stage that doesn't exist
If you ask emily to move a deal to a stage your organisation doesn't have, she doesn't guess at the closest match — she tells you which stages your organisation actually has, so you can pick the right one.
Where it works
CRM works on web chat, browser voice and WhatsApp. Not on a phone call.
